 Spoon Carving Workshop
With Yuri Moldenhauer
April 2 - 3, 2016

Please join us for the weekend (a two day workshop) as we learn an old scandinavian tradition of spoon carving.  The workshop will be held at Norwegian Wood Retreat just south of Princeton, MN.

The workshop will start with a walk in the woods to identify where the best spoons can be found and end with using it!  There will be lots of skills and safety tips learned from start to finish. Bring a bandaid just in case.  The class will be taught by local craftsman Yuri Moldenhauer.

As Yuri would describe his wood working experience: “I have been involved with some type of wood working pretty much my entire life. I am a carpenter by trade. I found spoon carving around 10 yrs ago after seeing the work of the late Frank Foltz. He mentored me and started me on my love of spoon carving and Buckthorn. I have been teaching for around 7 years now and love to get people interested and involved in the tradition. “

Bring your own sloyd knives.  If you don’t have basic tools, please let us know so that we have enough for you to borrow.  Carving materials will be provided.

Weekend Retreat rate includes Saturday overnight shared room accommodations, meals on Saturday and Sunday, and spoon carving instruction - $200.  Class will be held from about 9 a.m. until about 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

Rate without overnight accommodations includes spoon carving instruction and lunch - $150 for both days.

Deadline for registration is March 15, 2016.  Class will be limited to 8 carvers.  Please call 651-335-3449 or email deb@norwegianwoodretreat.com to reserve a spot before deadline.  Payment is accepted with check, cash, credit card.
